A Brief Discussion of Nasr Surah

Nasr Surah is the 102ed Surah in Quran and one of the shortest Surah with 3 Verses. It contains an incident with its reason, sign, and the raised duties.

The incident is victory and the reason is Allah’s aid. The sign is people entering into the Allah Religion in crowd. The raised duties are celebrating the praise of your Lord and plead to him for forgiveness; indeed he is all-clement.

To commence with, Allah’s Aid (Nasr) has victory in its nature. It is God’s law. As it can be seen in other verses inside other surah which included Aid (Nasr) word, when Allah accompany aid the result will be positive and victory, some vivid examples are:

وَ لَقَدْ نَصرَکُمُ اللَّهُ بِبَدْرٍ وَ أَنتُمْ أَذِلَّةٌ فَاتَّقُواْ اللَّهَ لَعَلَّکُمْ تَشْکُرُونَ123Ale-Emran

When the Aid depends on men and in general things besides Allah (Aliha), the result will be negative, as:

(75) Yasine

The second word is victory (Fath) which is also from Allah. Victory (Fath) can be material or spiritual. Seeing people entering into the Allah’s religion in crowd means the victory comes completely and is realize

The raised duties which are celebrating, praise and forgiveness are for gratitude and glorifying Allah. With monitoring the victory we can correct it; In this case permanent growth of the victory can be happened.

Since I was a child whenever I lost something they have told me to read Nasr surah for finding it and most of the time it worked. It remains me like every blessing that we have been given we don’t use them properly in the way we should. Also like this surah if we have known when there come the help of Allah and the victory is so big (like what happened in Mecca) more than just finding your lost items.

So the thing we can do is being grateful for all the blessing that we have and praise our lord, ask for his forgiveness for not being able to understand and using them in the way we should have.

When the help of Allah and victory comes

You’ll see the men entering the religion of Allah in crowds

Hence praise Allah, glorify Him and beg His forgiveness. He is undoubtedly the most relenting

In these three short, but, expressive verses, there are some elegant elaborations whose careful observation helps us to understand the final goal of the Surah. In the first verse, it says that the victory belongs to Allah. It is not only in this occurrence that this meaning is mentioned, but, in many other verses of the Qur'an the idea is reflected. In this Surah, the words are about, at first, the help of Allah, then, the victory, and then, the influence and spread of Islam, and finally, the entering of people, in groups, into the religion of Allah. All of them are causes and effects for each other. On the other hand, the help of Allah; and the victory are all for the final goal, i.e., people entering Allah's religion in multitudes, and guidance for all. There are three important instructions in the verse given to the holy Prophet (PBUH) and naturally to all believers which are, in fact, a gratitude for this great victory and an appropriate response to the help of Allah: the instructions of celebrating, praising, and seeking His forgiveness. It is certain that the holy Prophet (PBUH) of Islam, like all other prophets, was sinless; then what is the instruction of seeking His forgiveness for? To answer this question, it should be said that this is a model for the whole community, and on the part of a sinless, infallible one like the holy Prophet (PBUH) will mean seeking further grace and greater blessings or further protection of the Lord against the forces of Satan. By the way, it may also refer to the meaning that 'when Allah accepts your repentance, you, too, should accept the repentance of the guilty after victory, as far as you can, and do not repulse them from yourselves as long as there is no sign of offence or plot coming from them.

In The Name of ALLAH

Al_Nasr : The Divine Aid

Revealed at Mecca

It had all been started with the voice of the Holy Angel revealing verses from Omniscient ALLah saying as," ( O, Messenger) Recite in the Name of Allah who is your Creator_Nurturer and who Created all creatures of the universe; Allah is the One who taught all sciences through the knowledge of writing with pen" ( Al_ Alaq sura/ verses 1 and 4). And afterwards other verses saying," O, you who have wrapped yourself in a cloak; arise ( Qiam) and proclaim the warning publicly." ( Al_ Muddassir/ 1_2)

Now after 23 years of adversities, pains, and tortures of being away from their homeland and relatives, the honorable prophet( PBUH) received the last sura, Al_Nasr, that " When it comes the Aid of Allah and the victory; Then you will see the people entry Allah's Religion in crowds"  (Al_Nasr/ 1_2)

As a matter of fact, by the Divine Prophecy, the honorable prophet(PBUH) was informed about the upcoming triumph to the Muslims soon, so he decided to cut off pagan's communication and any kind of their retreat through surrounding Mecca in peace. By this means, he avoided any massacre of the city dwellers. Additionally, he demonstrated the main message of Allah's Religion ( Islam) which is the guidance of mankind to the Truth path in peace and mercy.

Eventually, to remember that all accomplishments are due to the Aid of Allah,in this sura, the Divine Messenger were commanded with thanksgiving and adorning Allah to do Tasbih of the Creator_Nurturer and ask His Forgiveness for refusing any spoiling arrogance and pride since God is the Extreme Repentance Accepter.

In the Name of God

“God” is behind whatever “Nasr” and “Fath” we achieve in our lives. This is the straight and essential soul that overwhelms the surah by providing the basis required for stating the next parts of it. The tendency of people towards God’s “Din” is counted as one of the instances of “Nasr” and “Fath” which the second verse focuses on. The importance of this victory is due to its effect on the success of God in attracting people to what is stated at the rest of this surah and throughout Quran.

“Eza” (when) is used at the beginning of the surah to establish a conditional structure. The condition is occurrence of “Nasr” and “Fath” from Allah.  Before dealing with the main clause, I’d like to talk about the support provided for it which is Allah’s forgiveness. This support is provided by the fact that when God opens a door for people to admire and pray him and ask for his forgiveness and this fortune is exploited, actually and practically, by the people (as the early obeyers of Islam did), they are granted with “Nasr” and “Fath” of Allah. The Allah’s favor to us must continue, in turn, with our acknowledgement in saying and practice with deeper “Tasbih”, “Hamd” and “Esteghfar” in order to open more doors to “Nasr” and “Fath” of Allah. A typical helical (in form of a helix to imply an upward progress of a movement) collection of events occurs, continually, so that we are granted Allah’s favors at the same time we are making a soulful progress.

For God's sake, once in your life take the time to focus on your own life from the beginning till now as much as you remember. Ask for the aid of Allah (Nasr) to open up (Fath), and for each moments of your life which there have been any conflicts or problems and for them you have suffered a little or a lot seek Allah's perfect forgiveness (Esteghfar) for your own share and role in those conflicts or problems even if you believe you have been innocent and flawless, which is truly a false belief. Be modest and ask for His forgiveness because sometimes you have had a great share and role in them while thinking about yourself as a victim.

Maybe it takes some time, but do not worry; it is worth it. It is unbelievably shocking when you remember all those faces and events one by one, and ask for Allah's forgiveness for your own share and role in making any of those people suffer and affecting any of those events to go wrong. It is touching your heart and soul in an extraordinary way, and at the end you understand how much God has helped you (Nasr) to purify yourself and get rid of all that heaviness of hopelessness and sense of guilt (Fath). It is like being born again with a refreshed soul to start and think much more hopefully and clearly, recognize your faults, and find much better solutions for the problems which have not been resolved yet (Fath).

It is the miracle of "Nasr and Fath-Esteghfar-Nasr and Fath" chain that you can experience yourself.

When comes the aid of Allah (Nasr) and the victory (Fath), do remember to glorify and hymn your Lord's praise and ask Him for forgiveness (Esteghfar), since He is so relenting.

One day a friend of mine told me that there is a person who is in need and we had to help her. I decided to send her some money. On the way back home I was thinking about the amount and means for the money to be delivered. However I was so exhausted that i was not able to make it when I arrived home. The next day, I forgot it as well due to several other occupations. The day after it I thought that probably others have helped her so far and she may not need my help anymore. As a matter of fact, other friends have had helped her and the issue was solved. In retrospect, I think someone was always whispering in my ears along the way to postpone it for later “…someone else will help her and you will need your money…” I regret that I did not help her as well as myself going with the tempting whispers. I think I had to seek refuge from those evil whispers on the way to do good deeds.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

1. Say: 'I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind,

2. 'The King of mankind,

3. 'The God of mankind,

This Surah explains three attributes of Allah. He gives sustenance to mankind, He is independent and He is worthy of worship. All things are created by Him, possessed by Him, and obedient to Him. He commands anyone who wants refuge to seek in it the Lord who has these attributes.

4. 'From the evil of the whisperer,

Satan tempts people to commit sins as he makes evil attractive to men. Only Allah can grant protection from the evil of Satan. Satan puts his hand on the heart of man. If he celebrates the remembrance of Allah he removes his hand and if he forgets Allah, Satan overcomes his heart fully. This is the 'evil of the whisperer.' "

5. 'Who whispers in the breasts of mankind.

6. 'Of jinn and men.'

The expression "Who whispers in the breasts of mankind" may be interpreted in two ways. One interpretation is that Satan whispers in the chests of people belonging to the human race or the race of jinn. The other interpretation is that the devils from among the human race and the jinn whisper in the chests of other people. At another place Allah says:

"And so We appointed for every Prophet an enemy - devils among mankind and jinn, inspiring one another with adorned speech as a delusion ... " [Al-Anaam  112]

In the name of Allah

God has created this world and want to give us a complete point of view about this life and more so God has told his messenger to seek refuge in the Lord of men. There is a question here why and when we need protection, of course the time that we face some problems, dangerous situations, etc. So in these situations we want protection but not from everyone. The one who has sufficient knowledge, power, and knows how to deal with that specific problem. And since God is the creator and has absolute power is the only one who knows and can solve all the problems and help us.

In this surah one of the things that God has warned us about is the temptation that happens for human beings which is not clear. But one of the results of that is postponing and canceling good deeds for later or never. This temptation is the job of Satan that can be done by human beings or jinn.
