Fussilat: Explained in detail

Speculated Statements on the Fussilat Sura

1. For the guided believers who are seeking to know the truth, the holy book is  eloquent detail verses expressing the Truth with no ambiguity.

2. The holy book bears glad_tidings as well as warnings for the guided believers whereas the misled disbelievers are turning away and not listening to it.

3. The polytheists deny the holy book in order to act and believe in their own way.

4. While the pagans are showing their enmity through their misdeeds ( such as not paying alms) and their beliefs ( by denying the truth), the guided group believe in the Oneness of Allah, be steadfast in worshiping Him only and seek His forgiveness.

Dear Classmates

Based on the table drawn on page 157 of "Sura-Oriented" Tadabbor book, please write down as much connecting logical statements as possible.

Keep in mind that the relations should be based on the column header topics and in accordance with the existing connections in "Ehkam" verse itself.

Good Luck

In the name of Allah

Am I A Belier of The Truth or Not?

As one of the lessons in our ‘Tadabbor’ course we worked on sura ‘Al-Mursalat’ (The Emissaries), and then we were supposed to write down our understanding as an assignment to post on the blog.

First of all here is some information about the subject of this sura for you dear readers. The main issue in sura ‘Al-Mursalat’ is warning the beliers and rejectors of The Truth about their horrible beliefs and wrongdoings. This important issue is divided into ten groups of verses, and at the end of every group there is a repeated verse which says, On that Day woe to the beliers of The Truth!”

In fact, in every group some prominent aspects are mentioned to draw our attention to The Truth lying beyond them.

The first thing coming to my mind after studying the sura was making some questions about any group of the verses, and then asking them from myself as the first available one around. I did so, and it was a very great reminder about what I believe in, where I am standing, the shortages I am facing now, and the challenge I demand to deal with for my own sake. Then, I thought it could be shared as my assignment on the blog with hope it would be a reminder for you as well.

So, here are some questions according to sura ‘Al-Mursalat’ to challenge beliefs and actions:

- Do I believe that by descending Revelation/ Quran, Allah has perfectly reminded all do’s and don’ts according to my needs? Do I believe that He has always been doing so without any hesitation or stop? How much do I refer to Quran to see what He wants me to do?

- How much do I believe in Resurrection Day in Hereafter which is the day of separation between Truth and Falsehood? And which side am I going to stand on that Day?

Sura Al_ Mursalat : The Divine Emissaries

Revealed at Mecca

This sura is revealed with respect to the Hereafter issues as well as threatening the disbelievers who deny the Truth by their lies. The belied people are threaten 10 times in this sura since their principle root of disbelief and paganism is hidden in attentively covering the Truth by their lies.

The beginning verses are pertaining to vowing to the Divine Angels which are swiftly being sent one after another to spread the Divine Truth( Haq) among messengers. These angels with their divine Truth cause to distinguish the Truth (Haq) from falsehood (Batel). By reaching revelation to the messengers, the proof and justification for the good_doers and warning for the wrong_doers is perfected. All in all these swears are to assure human that the fact of Hereafter, stated in the whole holy Book esp. this sura, surely and surely happens with no doubt.

However, on the Day of Separation, woe to the belied people who deviate the Truth trends by their lies. As they deny the Resurrection Day; that's why, they are punished severely with no chance to bring any excuses for their lies again. These disbelievers allow themselves to commit any crime and wrong_doings in their worldly life; besides, they obstacle human's progress and growth to access any divine blessings by their lies and denial of the Definite Truth of the Hereafter.

" In what other word than this Holy Qur'an will these people believe?"  verse 50/ Al_Mursalat sura

Dear Classmates

As you can remember we were covering the 4th book or in other words the methods of classification in each sura.

So far we reached the subject "Ehkam & Tafsil" or "General subjects Vs. Details"

Here we face "Situation-free verses" presenting general subject just like introduction or conclusion in an essay. furthermore, "Situation-based Verses" are the verses containing details pertaining to the general subject just like the body part of the essay or the supporting idea.

The question is how can we find the SFVs? There exists a fact that mainly starting(ending) verses are the SFVs. Based on this, please read through "Fosselat" sura and try to classify it according to the first verse of the sura then write down 20 logical statements from the possible relations.

The following table can help you:

Narrating the Abase Sura

How could we recognize whether a person has a talent to be guided to the Truth less than the others? What if this person is disable; let’s say, a blind man. What about a poor person? Due to this low social status, are we in the position to ignore him or somehow set him aside from our attention?

On the other hand, supposing a person who is healthy, wealthy and mighty; but, inattentive to the Divine guidance. He behaves as if he was the owner of the whole world and probably did not need any guidance. Should we pay more attention to that person hoping to be directed to the Right path only because of his high financial or political rank?

Allah cite in the Holy Qur’an, ”No! at all.” That is not an acceptable logical basis to consider people to be guided by their properties degree or superficial abilities. Only those believers could purify (Tazkie) themselves and observe the reminders (zekr) who eagerly attempt to know more about Qur’an and their hearts surely are full of fears of God’s disobedience in spite of even their disabilities or poor conditions.

The Holy Qur’an, as our spiritual sustenance, is revealed to the honorable messenger by noble Angels. It is indeed a reminder (Zekr) for those believers seeking the Truth through contemplation. The sacred Book reminds mankind of some facts to keep him away from any neglect or oblivion.

In order to have a better perspective horizon for seeing well and thinking deeply, the Holy Qur’an depicts the process of human creation from a tiny worthless sperm_ drop to a perfect man; from birth to death; from putting him in his grave in this world to raising him up to life on the Resurrection Day.

Furthermore, Qur’an also demonstrates another essential dimension of human creation; that is, his worldly sustenance or food. The Creator_ Nurturer provides the physical need of mankind by pouring down the torrential rain from which the various types of plants grow. These plants vary from giant trees to small grains; from valuable nutrient fruit trees and herbs to green grass and fodders so as to feed human and his livestock.

By these heavenly ( the Holy Qur’an) and the worldly sustenance, what Allah Expect from human to do in return? Nothing but to be grateful for these priceless blessings and do not take them for granted. Regardless of one’s amount of properties and social classes, if people take the Divine precious reminders to follow up the guiding path, they shall make their utmost efforts along with the respectful awe of Allah to achieve purification (Tazkie). Then, as a result, these believers may appear satisfied with their good deeds and bright happy faces in Hereafter; otherwise, their faces shall be stained and darken with the dust of being ungrateful. They are regretful for not using the Divine blessings as it was taught by The honorable prophet (PBUH) as well as the Holy Quran. Surely, this is the definite destiny of wicked disbelievers.

Now one may think how it is possible to approach purification. Undoubtedly, one of the best ways recommended is to review some parts of the pray of Infallible Imam Sajjad known as Makarim Al_Akhlaq ( the nobilities of character) in “Sahiefe Sajjadie book, as follows :

In The Name of Allah

O Allah, Bless Muhammed and Muhammed’s household

Cause my faith to reach the most perfect faith,

Make my certainty the most excellent certainty,

And take my intention to the best of intentions,

And take my work to the best work.

O Allah, Bless Muhammed and Muhammed’s household

Spare me the concerns which distract me,

Employ me in that about which you will ask me

Tomorrow,

And let me pass my days in that for which you have

Created me,

Free me from need, expand your sustenance toward me,

And tempt me not with ingratitude.

Exalt me and afflict me not with pride.

Make me worship you,

And corrupt not my worship with self_admiration,

Let good flow out from my hands upon the people,

And efface it not by making them feel obliged.

Give me the highest moral traits,

And preserve me from vain glory.

O Allah, Bless Muhammed and Muhammed’s household

And give me to enjoy a sound guidance which I seek not to replace,

A path of Truth from which I swerve not,

And an intention of right conduct in which I

Have no doubts.

Let me live as long as my life is a free gift in

Obedient to you,

But if my life should become a pasture of Satan,

Seize me to yourself

Before your hatred overtakes me

Or your wrath against me becomes firm.

O Allah, deposit in me no quality for which I will be

Faulted unless you set it right,

No flaw for which I will be blamed unless you make it

Beautiful.

No deficient noble trait unless you complete it.

O Allah, Bless Muhammed and Muhammed’s household

Abas surah is about refinement and training. The whole verses are encountering (facing). The key words in Abas surah are frown, turning away, coming, blind, knowing, piety, reminding, reminder, self-sufficiency, paying attention, earnestly, fears, not attentive, honorable, purified, denying the truth, creation, bright faces, laughing and rejoicing and lastly distress. As you can see most of these words are the configurations attribute to the face of relationships with others. Abas surah teaches having good relationship considering humility and politeness. Level of people especially poor or wealthy, should not affects the relations.

During the destiny of birth and death, flourishing and growth are required. God sends water to pierce the hard earth’s crust and grow the grains. Quran does the same with our heart.
