Method of classification-Desired and unpleasant condition

Dear Classmates

Another method for classification would be looking at the surah with its conditions. The desired condition would be according to ones “Fitrah” and Hagh trend obviously.

The unpleasant condition can be divided into natural unpleasant or uncontrolled condition or the sinful unpleasant condition. By separating these two with each other we can get to some neutral condition having the potential to be guided in the right way as the Hagh trend do or let it be as it is or move in the wrong way just like Batel trend.

So the main advantage in this classification would be not losing the natural unpleasant condition and analyze it as a bad substrate. Also it should be kept in mind that in this type of classification we zoom on the condition and our analysis would be point-wise and in Hagh and Batel trend we focus of the trend and the flow of the truth in different conditions.

The following table is suggested for such classification:

You can mainly find natural Unpleasant Conditions where the surah talks about “Ensan” or human and its fundamental characteristics. Like the following verses:

“ان الانسان خلق هلوعا” The humankind was created to be greedy

This greed can be guided through gaining good characteristics like leading to perfection and also can end up in jealousy and other bad morals.

My story : The Evil Whispers

One day a friend of mine told me that there is a person who is in need and we had to help her. I decided to send her some money. On the way back home I was thinking about the amount and means for the money to be delivered. However I was so exhausted that i was not able to make it when I arrived home. The next day, I forgot it as well due to several other occupations. The day after it I thought that probably others have helped her so far and she may not need my help anymore. As a matter of fact, other friends have had helped her and the issue was solved. In retrospect, I think someone was always whispering in my ears along the way to postpone it for later “…someone else will help her and you will need your money…” I regret that I did not help her as well as myself going with the tempting whispers. I think I had to seek refuge from those evil whispers on the way to do good deeds.

Naas Surah

In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

1. Say: 'I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind,

2. 'The King of mankind,

3. 'The God of mankind,

This Surah explains three attributes of Allah. He gives sustenance to mankind, He is independent and He is worthy of worship. All things are created by Him, possessed by Him, and obedient to Him. He commands anyone who wants refuge to seek in it the Lord who has these attributes.

4. 'From the evil of the whisperer,

Satan tempts people to commit sins as he makes evil attractive to men. Only Allah can grant protection from the evil of Satan. Satan puts his hand on the heart of man. If he celebrates the remembrance of Allah he removes his hand and if he forgets Allah, Satan overcomes his heart fully. This is the 'evil of the whisperer.' "

5. 'Who whispers in the breasts of mankind.

6. 'Of jinn and men.'

 The expression "Who whispers in the breasts of mankind" may be interpreted in two ways. One interpretation is that Satan whispers in the chests of people belonging to the human race or the race of jinn. The other interpretation is that the devils from among the human race and the jinn whisper in the chests of other people. At another place Allah says:

"And so We appointed for every Prophet an enemy - devils among mankind and jinn, inspiring one another with adorned speech as a delusion ... " [Al-Anaam  112]

About Nas Surah

In the name of Allah

       God has created this world and want to give us a complete point of view about this life and more so God has told his messenger to seek refuge in the Lord of men. There is a question here why and when we need protection, of course the time that we face some problems, dangerous situations, etc. So in these situations we want protection but not from everyone. The one who has sufficient knowledge, power, and knows how to deal with that specific problem. And since God is the creator and has absolute power is the only one who knows and can solve all the problems and help us.

        In this surah one of the things that God has warned us about is the temptation that happens for human beings which is not clear. But one of the results of that is postponing and canceling good deeds for later or never. This temptation is the job of Satan that can be done by human beings or jinn.

Nas Surah

In The Name of Allah

“Nas” surah is seeking refuge to God. God asks his prophet to say “I seek refuge to God” to be protected from temptation. It seems that this temptation is the result of lack of knowledge, ignorance, and inactivity (which is the same as Falagh surah). This temptation causes obstruction and delays the activities that should not be postponed. This lateness is a kind of temptation which happens continously.

Such temptation and delay has grave consequences and because of that we should seek refuge to our “Rabb” as well as “Malek” and “Elah”. It shows that we would be ambushed by a great and constant danger that will attack us in case of our negligence.

Since the danger is very mortal and we can not face it alone we need help. The help should be so comprehensive in order to defend such jeopardy we seek to three names of our God: “Rabb” who is manager and trainer of all our needs; “Malek” who is the owner of kingship,ample strength, and influential order; and “Elah” who is who is the real worshiped, he purifies his servents for himself.

Al-Nas homework

Al-Nas Surah

“I seek refuge” is the key word the “Al-Nas” surah starts with. The first question that comes in mind after hearing this key word is that “from what someone should seek refuge?” However, answering this question is preceded by talking about two other issues due to their importance. Firstly, the human is being called as “Al-Nas” regarding his social perspective. Being the title of the surah and repeated in almost all verses (except verse 4) the emphasis put on this word by the surah is highlighted. Secondly, the one with whom we seek refuge (God) is introduced using three titles whose meanings are in close logical relation with “seeking refuge”. “Lord” (رب) is used according to its meaning in organizing and managing the human and the world he lives in. “King” is used to imply the God’s protection capability provided by the penetration of his commands and, finally, “God” (اله) due to the obedience paid by humans to it.

After introducing the God as the best shelter, the surah talks about the hazard itself. The hazard is caused by the obsessions and doubts caused by whisper of devils and devil-like humans to the “Sadr” of “Nas”. This, in turn, gradually prevents the heart (which is surrounded by Sadr) from positive inspirations posed by God’s memory and the angels. This obstruction eventually damps motivations towards good actions. By the God’s memory being strengthened in someone’s heart (قلب), the devil’s access to “Sadr” can be blocked. This is what the surah intends at the initial verses by repeating the name of God in different forms that also deliver logical correlations with the meanings of the surah.

Assignment#1 On "Nas" Sura

In The Name of ALLAH

According to this sura ( Nas which means "people"), God commands His honorable messenger, who is as a role model for all nations, to seek refuge with his Creator (RAB), Almighty Ruler (MALEK) and God (ELAH) of mankind from a menace.

Taking refuge with Almighty is not a verbal repetition of these verses but one should keep his beliefs and deeds away from any devilish thoughts and inner temptations as the threat enters to the human's heart (Sadr) where the process and outcome of his beliefs and perceptions emerge; otherwise, it seems he is repeating the names of some prescribed drugs without taking them to cure his illness. 

To wrap it up, one of the most jeopardized harms from which we should take shelter is the wrong moral of destructive thoughts and beliefs, sometimes by the devil_like people and jinni and sometimes by the inner self_temptations whispering in our hearts to deviate us from the right path. That's why, All_Knowing Almighty God of mankind is the best trustworthy shelter to guard our beliefs and perceptions safe.

A Brief Discussion of An-Nas Surat

 

An-Nas surat can also be called Inductions (Elghaat), or Recovery Nature (Fitrat) and Understanding Human Servitude (Obudiyat). This surat trains refugees from an evil.

An-Nas contains an evil beside three havens. One evil is the evil of temptations and the three havens are The Creator (Rab) of mankind, the King (Malik) of mankind and the God (Elahe) of mankind.

Vice versa Al-Falagh Surat contains four evils: entire creatures, darkness of the night when it overtakes whole things, blowers in knots and jealous when jealousy. The one haven is the creature of dawn.

To elucidate it evil of An-Nas surat is more important than Al-Falagh surat. Comparison of evils in these two paired surats shows outer evils in Al-Falagh surat and inner one in An-Nas surat. However, the outer evils can be created from the inner one.

Understanding of the Creator (Rab), the King (Malik) and the God (Elahe) of mankind can improve our life, lifestyle and structure of life respectively. It also helps us to avoid evils of An-Nas and also AL-Falagh surats.
